2nd Quarter Project 2001/2002

 Students will choose activities from the list below. All students must do activities 1, 2, 3, and 4. Students may do more than 100 points of activities, but the maximum total score is 110 (100 points plus 10 points extra credit). The points listed next to each activity are the maximum points available for each activity. All word processing is to be done in Arial, 12 point, double spaced, with 1” margins. Due dates for required activities are stated. Due dates for additional activities are 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16.

 REQUIRED ACTIVITIES

   20      1. Design an advertising campaign for an existing business. This campaign must be written in a 600 word report. Verify business selected with Mr. Brown. Due Dec. 21.

   20      2. Research and write a 600 word report on the advertising and marketing practices of the company you chose for you advertising campaign. Due Dec. 21.

   20      3. Write a 60 second commercial to support your advertising campaign. This must be in two formats: as a written script, and in storyboard format. Due Jan11.

   20      4. Make a Flash Movie based on the 60 second commercial you designed. You will present and discuss the movie in front of a class. This is your Final for Mr. Brown’s class and is due on the day of the Final for your class.

ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES

  10        5. Research and make a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet on the current advertising prices for each market segment that your business uses. Graphing is required.  

  10        6. Visit an advertising agency and write a 300 word report that discusses what you learned.

  10        7. Research a college that specializes in advertising. Write a 300 word report on entrance requirements and what classes and activities are required for graduation.

  15        8. Visit the advertising department of a large business or interview the owner of a small business on its advertising practices. Write a 300 word report discussing what you learned.

  10        9. Design a PowerPoint presentation to be used when you present your 60 second movie to the class.

  10      10. Send your 60 second commercial to the company that advertises for the business you chose. If the business is a local business then send it directly to that business. You must have some form of confirmation that the business received it.

  10      11. Complete a report on a guest speaker.

  10      12. Arrange a guest speaker specializing in advertising.

  20      13. Research and write a 600 word report on the history of advertising and marketing. See Mrs. Puente for details.
